The Golden Ripples of Humility

$0.00

18x24×1.5” ORIGINAL Acrylic on Canvas

The brilliant golden light of the sunset illuminates the beings that crouch the lowest. Even the tall giraffe must lower itself to drink the water of life. The soft curve of the giraffe’s neck, fully bent to reach the water’s edge, reveals an aesthetic of obedience and humility more beautiful than any proud stature.

It feels more than a mere coincidence that I completed this painting during Easter week, reflecting on Jesus Christ, who chose the lowest place to come to this earth. In the painting, the Little Prince also kneels, creating ripples with his fingertips. Those small tremors feel like a signal of life—the divine providence that governs this peaceful order.

While I initially began this work inspired by a striking photograph, the painting spoke to me continuously throughout the process. In the hours spent filling the canvas, I received unexpected and noble lessons, allowing myself a moment of humble self-reflection.

At this golden waterfront, I, too, lower my heart like the giraffe and drink the water of life.

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you.” (1 Peter 5:6)
