Coastal Magic at Sunset
I went to the beach I usually visit during the day, around sunset. Since it was a cloudy day, I didn't have high hopes for the sunset. Unexpectedly, like the prelude to the main performance of a sunset concert, the sky over the sea began to be tinged with orange and pink hues. As if being drawn into a fairytale land, I walked barefoot closer to the sea. The ever-changing lights were mesmerizing. Pink, orange, vermillion, red... more diverse and vibrant than any palette of paints.
At some point, a young boy jumped into that canvas. Running around the beach against the backdrop of the beautiful sunset, he gestured and spoke. Sometimes he would tumble on the sand while playing, other times he would run towards the sea as if about to plunge into the burning red water. He chased a flock of birds in the crimson-colored sea at sunset. Against the backdrop of the ever-changing sunset light, cloud formations, and the shimmering light of the waves reflecting that light, the boy, becoming one with the scene and fully enjoying it all, left a strong impression on me.
It was as if the Little Prince was playing in a dream on a small planet where he had crash-landed. While painting this picture, I reread "The Little Prince." The story of the relationship between the Little Prince and the fox left a lingering, poignant feeling in my heart. Through this painting, I want to express the awe and gratitude I feel for God's creation of this perfect natural masterpiece. Also, the fairytale-like scenery and the young boy playing within it reminded me of the Little Prince, and as I reread the book I had read long ago, I was able to reflect once again on relationships through its famous lines.

The swirling brushstrokes, the free and ever-changing lines, the sunset hues that embrace the soul—I wanted to express, with gratitude to God, the space where I felt awe and sublimity with my whole being. This painting series is revealing my style more and more, and the journey of discovering my inner self is truly fascinating.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. - Joshua 1:9

The child playing on the beach at sunset looked just like the Little Prince. As I painted, a single Bible verse kept coming to my mind: Joshua 1:9. I imagine Joshua confidently walking forward, just as God told him to "be strong and courageous" and not to be afraid. And now, I imagine myself doing the same—walking boldly in faith, with God as my only reliance.
